Our Catholic Identity
Namilyango College is a Catholic school founded by the Mill Hill Missionaries in 1902, and the spirit of that founding charism remains alive in every corner of our campus today. Every student lives the school's motto — Nisi Dominus (Without God We Toil in Vain) — not merely as a phrase on a crest, but as a daily commitment expressed through morning and evening prayers, weekly Mass, Holy Days of Obligation, and a community that is always reaching outward in service to others.
Spiritual formation at Namilyango is never seen as separate from academic excellence. It shapes the whole person — building integrity, compassion, resilience and a sense of vocation that outlasts any certificate. A student who leaves Namilyango carries not only knowledge, but a conscience formed in the light of the Gospel.
At Namilyango, faith is not confined to the chapel — it shapes every corner of college life, from the first bell of morning to the last prayer at night.
Worship
The chapel bell calls the community to Mass every Sunday and on Holy Days of Obligation. Morning and evening prayers anchor the rhythm of each day, reminding students that God is at the centre of all learning.
Each term, students and staff step away from ordinary routines for a day of recollection — silent reflection, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and a renewed sense of purpose and calling.
Service
Faith without works is empty. Through outreach initiatives, students visit hospitals, orphanages and elderly homes in Mukono district — placing the face of Christ at the centre of every act of service.
A Word from the Chaplain
Welcome to Namilyango College. While we always strive for academic and extracurricular excellence on our hill, our primary foundation is rooted in faith and character. Education is incomplete without the formation of the soul.
As we work together to build the leaders of tomorrow, let us stay anchored in the words of Isaiah 40:31:
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Let us keep God at the center of all our efforts, support one another in faith, and live with integrity and purpose.
May God bless you all, and may He continue to bless Namilyango College.
Every student at Namilyango is invited to belong to a society where they deepen their faith, discover their gifts and serve with purpose. These are the heart of our chapel life.
An international Catholic student movement built on the See–Judge–Act methodology. Members observe social realities, reflect through the lens of the Gospel, and take decisive action for justice, solidarity and human dignity.
One of Namilyango’s oldest and most revered societies. Members deepen their Marian devotion through weekly Rosary recitations, prayer meetings and works of charity offered through Our Lady’s intercession — serving Christ in the poor.
Inspired by St. Francis Xavier — patron of all missions and apostle of the East. The Xaverians ignite a passion for evangelisation, faith-sharing and missionary witness, spreading the Gospel through service, discussion and intentional discipleship.
Namilyango’s premier sacred jazz ensemble. The Seraphs blend contemporary jazz, soul and worship music in liturgical settings — bringing an uplifting, Spirit-filled sound to special Masses, college celebrations and retreats throughout the year.
Several other faith groups and chapel clubs are active at Namilyango.
Every morning the college chapel bell calls Namilyango to worship. Each form takes turns leading the community in prayer — a tradition that has shaped generations since 1902.
All weekday Masses begin at 6:00 AM and are led by the assigned form. Sunday Mass at 8:00 AM is open to the entire Namilyango community — students, staff and guests. Holy Days of Obligation follow a special schedule announced by the Chaplain. Morning and evening prayers continue daily for all students.
