A Legacy of Excellence in Education

Located on Namilyango Hill in Mukono District, Uganda's first secondary school was founded in 1902 by the Catholic Mill Hill Fathers. Its history of excellence in academics and sports has made it one of Uganda's most prestigious institutions.

The campus is situated approximately 6 km southwest of Mukono Town and about 20 km east of Kampala city — a serene environment that has shaped generations of leaders, professionals, and changemakers across Uganda and beyond.

The Namilyango College Pioneer Statue

The Namilyango Pioneer

The statue that greets every visitor to our administration block is a powerful reminder — we are the pioneer of secondary education in this great nation of Uganda. Opened in March 1902, we are the grandfathers of secondary schooling, and we are still going strong.

More than a symbol, the Pioneer embodies our founding spirit: to lead, to inspire, and to take responsibility. Every student who walks through our gates inherits this legacy.

Our History

NISI DOMINUS

Without God We Toil in Vain

Our motto is taken from Psalm 127: “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain.” At Namilyango, this is not merely a saying — it is a living conviction. Every lesson, every sport, every activity is offered to God for His guidance and blessing.

The College community is encouraged to live prayerfully, understanding that spiritual development is inseparable from academic and personal excellence.
