Ngo-Nga College Visit 2026: Faith, Fellowship and Inspiration Light Up Namilyango College

From the chapel to the playing field, from career conversations to lifelong friendships, the Ngo-Nga College Visit transformed an ordinary day into an unforgettable celebration of faith, leadership and community.

There are moments that leave footprints long after the crowds have departed and this is what the Ngo-Nga Community imprinted on the hearts and minds of the Namilyango College Students. The recent Ngo-Nga College Visit to Namilyango College was one such occasion where faith met purpose, knowledge met experience, and friendship flourished like a well-watered garden. Bringing together members of the Ngo-Nga Mbarara University Science and Technology Chapter and the Ngo-Nga Kampala Chapter, alongside students from sister universities across Uganda, the visit offered Namilyango students an inspiring glimpse into university life while strengthening the enduring bond between generations of scholars and leaders.

A Morning Rooted in Faith: Beginning with Thanksgiving

The day commenced at 8:00 a.m. with a chilly steady atmospheric sunrise, a solemn Holy Mass, setting the tone for an event centered on gratitude, service and fellowship.  As the old saying goes, "A house built on a strong foundation fears no storm." The celebration reminded everyone present that faith remains the cornerstone upon which education, leadership and character are built.

In a touching act of thanksgiving, the visiting Ngo-Nga fraternity presented thanksgiving to the Namilyango College Chaplaincy, expressing gratitude to God while reaffirming their commitment to supporting the spiritual growth of future generations. The liturgy was further enriched through vibrant choir performances, uplifting hymns and the harmonious sound of musical instruments, filling the chapel with an atmosphere of joy, hope and thanksgiving.

United by One Spirit: Universities Standing Together

The visit reflected the remarkable unity of Ugandan University community as students representing higher institutions came together under the Ngo-Nga fraternity. Several representatives from Makerere University, Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), Kyambogo University, Kampala International University (KIU) and other university chapters across Uganda made their debut to the historical grounds of education's premier college.

Their presence served as a powerful reminder that education extends beyond classrooms-it creates lifelong networks, shared values and opportunities for mentorship. Like rivers flowing from different mountains into one lake, students from diverse institutions gathered with one common purpose: inspiring the next generation.

Beyond the Classroom: Inspiring Career Conversations.

One of the day's highlights was an engaging Career Guidance Session, where university students shared honest and practical insights into life after secondary school.

Through interactive discussions, the visitors encouraged students to dream boldly while preparing wisely for the future. Several topics that were discussed spanned from “Transitioning successfully from secondary school to university”, “Choosing suitable degree programmes”, “Emerging career opportunities”, “Professional development and leadership,” Campus life”. “Personal growth and balancing academics with extracurricular activities.”

Their experiences painted a realistic yet inspiring picture of university life, reminding students that success is not simply about choosing the "best" course, but about discovering purpose and pursuing excellence. As the proverb says, "The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago; the second-best time is now."  The guidance challenged students to begin preparing for their futures today.

The Spirit of Sportsmanship Comes Alive.

The afternoon came alive with excitement as students and visitors met on the sports fields for epic friendly matches in Rugby, Football, and Basketball where old boys edged their counterparts in rugby and football but came short of basketball as the boys struggled not to take on a full-day loss.

The friendly created an atmosphere of healthy competition, teamwork and camaraderie. As cheers echoed across the grounds, the players demonstrated determination, resilience and mutual respect which very values define the Namilyango spirit. While scorelines may eventually fade from memory, the friendships formed and lessons learnt through sport will continue to inspire long after the final whistle.

Where Memories Were Made.

No meaningful reunion is complete without capturing the moments that matter. The visit concluded with joyful photography sessions as students, alumni and visitors gathered to celebrate a day filled with learning, laughter and renewed friendships.

It was particularly heartwarming to witness Namilyango College Old Boys reconnecting with Old Girls from Mount St. Mary's College Namagunga, rekindling memories while inspiring current students through their continued sense of community and belonging. Every photograph and frame rate of a pixel became more than an image. It became a reminder that once part of the Namilyango family, one remains part of it for life.

Strengthening the Bridge Between Secondary School and University.

The Ngo-Nga College Visit perfectly embodied Namilyango College's commitment to holistic education. Beyond academic excellence, the event nurtured Faith and spiritual growth, Leadership development, Career readiness, Alumni engagement, Mentorship, Sportsmanship, Community service and Lifelong learning. Through encounters like these, students gain not only information but inspiration seeing first-hand what is possible when determination, faith and education walk hand in hand.

The Future Ahead.

The Ngo-Nga College Visit was far more than a one-day Programme. It was a celebration of shared values, enduring friendships and the transformative power of education. Like a relay race where one runner confidently passes the baton to the next, the university students entrusted Namilyango young men with stories, wisdom and encouragement for the journey ahead.

Namilyango College extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Ngo-Nga MUST Chapter, Ngo-Nga Makerere University Chapter and Kampala Chapter, all participating university chapters, alumni, staff, chaplaincy and every student whose presence made the occasion memorable.

Together, we continue building a community where faith inspires learning, leadership serves humanity, and brotherhood knows no boundaries.
