Uganda's Biggest Coding Competition 2026 Returns Bigger Than Ever: Namilyango College Set to Join the Digital Revolution.

As the world continues to embrace digital transformation, coding and technology skills have become essential tools for innovation, problem-solving, and future careers. In line with its commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovators, the Namilyango College Science & Technology Club is pleased to announce the launch of preparations for Uganda's Biggest Coding Competition 2026-the country's premier coding and STEM competition for secondary school students.

The competition is open to students from Senior One (S.1) to Senior Six (S.6) and offers an exceptional platform for young programmers, technology enthusiasts and aspiring innovators to demonstrate their talents, develop practical digital skills and compete for prestigious national recognition.

This year's edition promises to be the biggest yet, featuring expanded competition categories, free pre-competition training for all participants and an impressive array of prizes, including scholarships, technology devices, and a cash prize pool worth USD 25,000. Yes, you read that right.

What is ISCC? Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

The rapid advancement of technology has transformed nearly every aspect of modern life. From education and healthcare to finance, agriculture and engineering, digital solutions continue to shape the future of industries around the world.

Competitions such as Uganda's Biggest Coding Competition provide students with an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges while developing creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership.

Participation also exposes learners to emerging technologies and prepares them for careers in software engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, web development, robotics, and digital entrepreneurship.

At Namilyango College, the Science & Technology Club remains committed to empowering students with the skills needed to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and beyond.

What are the Competition Categories?

Students will have the opportunity to compete in several exciting categories, each designed to challenge different areas of STEM knowledge and technological innovation.

STEM Quiz-Team Composition-Four (4) Students.

A fast-paced knowledge competition that tests participants' understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through teamwork and analytical thinking.

Python Competitive Coding.-Team Composition: Three to Five (3–5) Students.

Participants will solve algorithmic programming challenges using Python while demonstrating logical reasoning, coding efficiency, and technical accuracy.

JavaScript Competitive Coding.-Team Composition: Three to Five (3–5) Students.

Teams will showcase their JavaScript programming skills through competitive coding exercises designed to assess creativity, speed, and problem-solving abilities.

Hackathon Challenge.-Team Composition: Three to Five (3–5) Students.

The Hackathon encourages students to collaborate in designing innovative technology-based solutions that address practical challenges within a limited period of time.

Front-End Development Competition.-Team Composition: Three to Five (3–5) Students

Students will compete by designing responsive, visually appealing, and user-friendly websites that demonstrate technical proficiency and creative design.

Teachers' Competitive Coding-Participation: One (1) Teacher.

The competition also recognizes educators by providing an opportunity for one teacher to represent the school in a dedicated coding challenge. Let us pray our beloved webmaster makes the Ace. (smiles)

Do we have some Free Training for Every Participant?

Well, yes! One of the standout features of this year's competition is the commitment to ensuring that every participant is adequately prepared.

Therefore, all registered participants will receive free training before the competition, providing students with the opportunity to strengthen their programming skills, improve problem-solving techniques and gain valuable experience under the guidance of experienced trainers.

The training Programme is designed to benefit both beginners taking their first steps into coding and experienced programmers looking to sharpen their competitive edge.

Finally, what are the Attractive Prizes that Await Winners?

Well, the competition offers one of the most rewarding prize packages in the country for secondary school students interested in technology and believe in this one, they are amazing.

Participants will compete for USD 25,000 Cash Prize Pool, Laptop Computers, Smartphones, Smart Watches, University Scholarships, ISCC Scholarships, Certificates of Participation and Achievement, Additional prizes and recognition awards

Beyond the tangible rewards, participants will gain valuable exposure, practical experience, and opportunities to connect with fellow innovators from across Uganda.

What are the Key Competition Dates?

Students are encouraged to begin preparing early and take note of the important milestones leading to the national finals.

  1. Regional Qualifiers will take place on 26th September.
  2. National Bootcamp from eighth 11th December 2026.
  3. National Championship on 12th December 2026.

The National Bootcamp will provide qualifying teams with advanced mentorship and intensive preparation ahead of the championship. Hence there are no worries even if you are a “chap” like moi.

Namilyango College has long been recognized for academic excellence, leadership, and innovation. Participation in Uganda's Biggest Coding Competition presents another opportunity for students to uphold this proud tradition while showcasing their talents on a national platform.

Fortunately, last year we had one of our major wins in the regionals with “Blaise Obama omaschr” a senior three student aced the regionals coding competition with the most points accumulated in the “Competitive Coding Category” through a number of daily tasks in regards to “Python based activities.”

Now, the Science & Technology Club encourages students from every class and level to consider participating, regardless of prior coding experience. With the free training Programme in place, every interested learner has the opportunity to acquire new skills and contribute to the College's success.
