JUST A STEP CLOSE TO THE PEAK
The 11th of Sunday August 2024 was yet another day for the Namilyango College Football Anchors to prove their wrath against Gombe S.S in the FUFA TV Football Competitions of this year 2024.
The football anchors were looking forward to take the day with a 3-0 comeback against their conteneders in the Namilyango College Wembley Grounds.Gombe S.S were as well determined to defend their 2-0 victory that they were able to attain in the first leg a week earlier.
The game kicked off as Namilyango College tried proving their wrath and the spirit for a comeback victory as they missed two crucial goals in the opponents' box only for the goalkeeper to save it. Alot of more opportunities availed in the fisrt half as Namilyango's number 11, Matthew Kirungi, missed an obvious goal as he went one on one with the opponents' goalkeeper. This was later followed by another opportunity to David Muwando, Colleges' shirt number 10, who took a wonderful free kick that unfortunately landed in the goalkeepers' hands. All these wasted chances were witnessed till the end of the first half of the game.
The game became more hectic and a lot of pressure mounted on the players of both teams in the second half of the game. This was followed by the hosts' number 10 who once again missed a golden opportunity as he kicked the ball out despite the efforts from Eric Ssebuliba creating for him such a wonderful opportunity at hand.
However, all the opportunities did not go in vain as Anchors number 7 from the bench Julius Wankoko, following a confusion in the contenders' box, was able to score goal number one for the hosts giving them a lead of 1-0 in the second leg which however was not enough as the ANCHORS ran in short of goal difference following Gombe S.S victory in aggregates as it ended 2-1 overall.
